About

An independently built vineyard in Albuquerque.

Pajarito Farms started as bare ground and a question: what would it take to grow genuinely good wine grapes in Albuquerque? Not to imitate another region — to find out what this specific place can do.

The answer, so far, has been built one season at a time: trellising and irrigation going in row by row, varieties chosen as experiments and kept or expanded based on how they actually perform, machinery added where it makes the work better, and a lot of early mornings — some of them spent lighting smudge pots at 4 AM.

Today that's roughly 3,500 vines on 3.5 acres, eight varieties, lavender on the property, and a small estate winery taking shape around the fruit. The first crush happens this year. The operation is run hands-on, with technology and mechanization applied wherever they genuinely help — and skipped where they don't.

No château, no imported mythology. A working farm, real equipment, honest experiments, and wine made from grapes grown here.

May 2021: this was an alfalfa field, and the gophers were undefeated.

The same ground today — vines in the rows, Sandia alpenglow behind. This is why we farm here.
